The National Junior Honor Society is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship and character. Meetings will be held once a month in room C5. Sponsored by Teri Alexander and Thelma Roberson
PTSA stands for Parent Teacher Student Association. It is an organization of parents, teachers and students who VOLUNTEER to make a positive difference in our school. Danny Jones PTSA promotes education and extra-curricular activities at our school. Through fundraisers, we help provide programs, activities and resources for all students, teacher appreciation events, and donate much needed technology equipment for teacher/classroom use! Robotics is an invaluable resource for teaching science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) skills. It also develops critical thinking, collaboration, and problem solving, along with other 21st century skills such as creativity, imagination, curiosity, and innovation. A curriculum that includes robotics provides students with the ability to take an active role in their own learning and forms a necessary foundation for their lives in the ever-changing world. The mission of the Multicultural Club is to increase the awareness and understanding the world cultures among Danny Jones students and our community in general. We promote respect and acceptance of people from all cultures by celebrating diversity on campus and incorporating respect for people’s differences. Sponsored by Amaralis Chinnici
The goal of this club is not only to build better soccer players but build sportsmanship, confidence and leadership skills and teach students patience and the value of hard work. Our club will provide these community services: Mini-clinics for nearby elementary and intermediate students with focus on skill development and mentorship. Open practice opportunities for kids of Danny Jones faculty and staff. Meetings will start 9/24/19 in Room A5 and will continue to meet on Tuesdays 4:30-5:15 pm. Sponsored by Casey Sullivan
The Memorial Garden Club is a Rachel’s Challenge Group that was started in 2010 to honor a beloved former teacher named Amanda May. People describe Amanda as a vibrant, beautiful person who loved teaching, her family and butterflies. The primary purpose of our club is to care for the garden by pruning, planting, weeding, and of course having fun! Our goal is to make the garden an inviting place where time can be spent in retrospection, reflection and remembering those that we love. When the weather is too hot or inclement, we bring the fun inside! The Garden Club is open to students who:
-enjoy working hard and playing in the dirt.
-are responsible and can make meetings after school on Wednesdays.
Note: Any students with a “green thumb” are highly encouraged to join!
Meets in Room C3. Sponsored by Ronetta Sawatzki
