Library Information

The main purpose of the library at DJMS is to assist students with their academic progress and further their love of reading. The librarian is here to help you with whatever you may need. Please do not hesitate to ask.
 
The library is open before school, during lunch, and after school for meaningful, purposeful work and MakerSpace activities.
 
Computers in the library may be used by students before school, after school and at lunch. Students may also print homework and other assignments in the library for $.05 per page.
 
The library offers visitors assistance with technical support, online resources, ideas, etc. 
 
Library personnel can assist visitors on how to check out e-books.

Check-Out Policy

Students may check out books and materials for a period of three weeks from the day of checkout. At the time a library book is checked out, a "due date" is placed on the book. Students are responsible for returning books on time. If a student would like more time to read a book, he or she is welcome to renew the book for an additional three week period. The maximum checkout is 2 books, 2 ebooks, and 1 audio book.  Students will be reminded about any overdue books via email.  Students will be expected to pay for the replacement cost of lost or damaged books. 
Access to search for books in the Danny Jones library may be done from the classroom, or home, by visiting Destiny Quest Discover. 
Books are organized by genre so that readers can browse the shelves to find items of interest. 
 
  • Fiction - Books are shelved by Genre and then the author's last name. Genres include Adventure, Animal, Classic, Fairy Tale, Fantasy, Folklore, Girl's Life, Historical, Horror, Humor, Mystery, Mythology, Realistic, Romance, Science Fiction, Sports, Supernatural, Urban Fiction, War, Picture book, and Graphic Novels. 
  • Biography - Books are shelved by the subject's last name.
  • Nonfiction - Books are arranged the Dewey system

Library for Teachers

Equipment Checkout Procedures

To assure that equipment will be available when needed, be sure to make reservations at least one week in advance. Equipment can be picked up in the Library between 8:00 and 8:30 and is due back by 4:30 each day.
 

Reserving a Cart of Books for Your Classroom

Teachers may check out a cart of books on a subject being studied in class. Teachers are asked to consult with Mrs. Rosales at least one week prior to the date when the books will be used. This is to ensure that the appropriate materials will be available. At the time of checkout, teachers will be given a list of all books checked out in their name.
 

Library Reservation

Teachers may request a section of library tables be reserved for specific classes on specific days. This should be done at least one week in advance to ensure that space and materials will be available. However, teachers should be aware that since the Library operates on a completely flexible schedule, students with passes from other classes will be admitted to the library throughout the school day.
